Description:
A closer examination of Pisanello’s drawing, which is kept at the Louvre (INV 2520), makes it possible to settle a debate on perspectival methods between Pisanello and Leon Battista Alberti. The philological path leading from Alberti to Panofsky allows us to draw the conclusion that Pisanello applied and advocated for the “superbipartienti” approach, while “constuzione legittima” didn’t exist in the 15th century until its very end, when it was in vented by German professors.
