Description:
The World Generator / The Engine of Desire can be seen as a discourse mechanism, enabling one to observe meaning as it arises in a non-logocentric manner. Meaning in computer-based environments arises within a constructed context. The perception of "perspective" (I am using the term in its widest definition) arises out of a set of meaning forces, or fields of meaning. The vuser (viewer/user) of the environment also brings their mind set. There is an ongoing summing of these meaning forces. In my techno-poetic mechanism I examine how the mixed-semiotic milieus of image, text and music/sound become generative of meaning as they assume differing configurations. These media-elements inter-convey. Thus, "perspective" can be seen as relative to the perception of the vuser as they experience the summing of these meaning forces. A word can shift the "perspective" and frame the way we are understanding the environment. (B.S.)
