In the video biography, Mari Cantu recounts the life story of her father, Márton Horváth, born Márton Schiller. Her narrative is accompanied by scenes from the shooting of the film entitled Rózsadomb [Rose Hill].
The life of the man, born of Jewish descent in 1906 and committed later to communism, was saved on numerous occasions by fortuitous and grotesque turns of circumstances. As his life story unfolds, the tableau of decades of Hungarian history, dark with ignominy, takes form, stubbornly and repeatedly raising the question as to where the limits between the bearable, the mere compromise, and the unbearable lie.
