(...) When the network is shared across several countries, individuals at the local centres can meet each other long distance. The aim of this virtual environment in Nuzzle Afar is not only to build up those networked functions into a real system, but also to realise an experimental model of human communication employing video-captured image and a trackball and microphone interface, instead of a keyboard. Nuzzle Afar extends the idea of sharing a virtual environment through the Internet to a three-dimensional real-time computer-synthesised space. (...) (M.F.)
