The video is a lengthy montage, and not just in the sense that it contains several cuts. It is also a montage in the sense that it gives us consecutive images of various topics and aesthetic worlds, drawn from disparate contexts. On the one hand, the elements of the series obtain their significance through their relationship to one another, while on the other hand they also contain multiple motifs which are magnified and reduced in size on a still-picture base. The concluding sequences suggest an interesting correlation between the narratives of Romanesque and Early Gothic tympanums above church entrances (Moissac and Toulouse) and the possibilities offered by the technique of montage in the language of film.
