Description:
Description of the event: I put the tape-recorder on a frame placed it next to a street-landmark, a tree at the corner, some feet away.
The machine is to record the street-noises and audible events. After constructing it, I put the microphones on the street, as far from one another as possible.
I put a tape glued together, so as to make it infinite, into the tape-recorder in a way that is also spanned the tree trunk, then I covered the erasing head of the tape-recorder with aluminum foil.
Through these two operations, in principle the instrument is able to record and store an infinite amount of information.
The role of the amplifier ant the two sound panels is to make it easy to follow the events.
(...) The end of the events is indicated by the silencing of the tape-recorder, that is, the non-reproducibility of the past and the impossibility to document the future. (Gy.V.)
