Biography:
Rudolf Frieling is a curator, educator, and scholar with an M.A. in Humanities from the Free University of Berlin and a Ph.D. from the University of Hildesheim, Germany. urator of Media Arts at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2006- ). He was a curator of the International VideoFest Berlin (1988/94). He has been assigned to be a researcher and curator at the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe (Germany) since 1994 and to head of the video collection and organizer of the annual International Media Art Award until 2001 in the same place. At the same time he has been with Dieter Daniels co-editor of Media Art Action and Media Art Interaction on the history of art and media in Germany since 1996. He has been giving lectures a. o. at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich, Hochschule der Künste Berlin and as well as guest professor at the media faculty, University of Applied Sciences (Mainz) since 1998. He was encharged to head of the Internet project Media Art Net at ZKM (2001/04) and charged to be a curator at Biennale Sao Paulo in the net art section (2002) and the Sound-Image (Mexico City, 2003).
