Biography:
Born in Aubenas. Lives and works in Paris as a video artist and television producer, author and journalist, art and cinema critic, and Professor of Cinema Studies. Has written for the Tribune socialiste (1967-70), Cinéthique (1968-73), les Cahiers du Cinéma (1978-89), Le Monde (1980-82), Libération (1982-83), and presently writing for Art Press and Le Monde. His publications include the novel 'Atteinte a la fiction de l'état' (Gallimard, 1978), a work of fictional satire (against the New Right), 'Les bons a rien' (Gallimard-Presses d'aujourd'hui, 1980), an essay on Jean-Luc Godard in collaboration with Jean Collet (Seghers, 1974), the monograph Nam June Paik (Art Press, 1989), and various texts within collective works, for example the volume 'O? va la vidéo?' which he edited as well, and organised an exhibition titled similarly (at the 'Festival d'Avignon', 1986). His latest book is 'Cine et TV vont en vidéo. Avis de tempête' (De l'Incidence, 2010). (2011)
