Biography:
Born in Burg close to Magdeburg. He took part in vocational training and gained professional experience as a photographer in Bielefeld and he studied photographic engineering in Cologne. He has been a lecturer for technology of photography since 1960 then a professor of Artistic Photography and Photographic Arts at the Academy in Bielefeld since 1973. He worked with several techniques of experimental photography in the 60's: serial photography, serial-picture technique (1965); camera obscura works: diaphragm-structures (1967); and generative photography (1968). Explanations on defining terms through photographs were themes for several exhibitions. In the 70's he focused on apparative art, computted graphics, later the colorcycles, color-perspectives became determining in his work. He has been working on generative computer projects since 1994. He was curator of exhibition entitled 'Folgen von (...). Konkrete Fotografie' (Photo Edition Berlin, 2011). (2011)
