Biography:
He is an artist, theorist and programmer. He has been Research Fellow at the Center for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) in Karlsruhe since 2006. After his studies of philosophy, literature, art history and theology at Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Bonn (1991/1994) he received his M.A. degree in philosophy at Sorbonne I. in Paris by Bernard Bourgeois as supervisor (1995). He was a guest student at the Academy of Arts and the Media (KHM) in Cologne (1996/98) and at the Institute for Aesthetics at Humboldt University in Berlin in Culture and Media Sciences (1998/2002). He worked on his dissertation Poetry Machines / Machine Poetry as a research fellow at the Academy of Arts and the Media in Cologne as well as in Berlin by supervisors as Prof. Dr. Friedrich Kittler (Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Siegfried Zielinski (Cologne) (2000/02). He was jury member for Nam June Paik Award (Düsseldorf) together with Prof. Katharina Sieverding and Prof. Dr. Siegfried Zielinski (2010). Between 2009 and 2011 he was Chair for Experimental Technologies in the Art Context at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. In 2012 he took part in dOCUMNETA-án (13) wit his project, Machine Heart-Das Herz der Maschine. His current research focuses on the development of an archaeology of algorithmic artefacts. (2016)
