Born in Budapest, lives and works in Berlin. During the 1956 Revolution, member of the resistance group “The Invisible of Mecsek.” When the revolution is crushed, he flees to Germany. He earns his degree in painting and graphics from the Staatliche Akademie der bildenden Künste in Stuttgart in 1965 on an American scholarship. He participates in the graphics workshop in the Art Colony of Makó (1980/90). As of 1980, in parallel to working as a painter and graphic artist, he also works with video. He is member of the Hungarian Electrographic Art Association, Budapest, the Niedersächsischen Filmkomission, Hannover, (1999- ) and the Kepes Society, Budapest. He is president of the jury for the Retina International Film and Video Festival (Szigetvár, HU). He is a Bonn Art Fund scholar, then, in 1995, he receives support from the Neue Berliner Kunstverein and participates in the studio program of the Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM) in 1996. His main awards include the Award of the Tokyo Video Festival (1996, 1998) and high praise from the jury of the Locarno Video Film Festival (2001). He has exhibited at the Musee d´art Moderne (1960), a 45th Venice Biennial (1991), at Műcsarnok/Kunsthalle Budapest (1997) and the 21st Hungarian Graphics Biennial in Miskolc (2002, HU).
