Biography:
Born in Marosvásárhely/Târgu Mureş, Romania. Lives and works in Budapest. He earns his degree at the Ioan Andreescu Academy of Visual Arts in Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca (today University of Art and Design, 1988/93). He pursues his postgraduate training at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (today: Hungarian University of Fine Arts, MKE, 1993/95) and at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Marseille (1996). He then spends one year as a researcher at the Kunsthochschule Berlin (1999/2000). In 2009, he completes his doctorate in the DLA Program of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (2005/08). He has received numerous prizes and scholarships: EMARE Studio Program (Hull-Time Based Arts, Great Britain, 1997), a Bethanien Künstlerhaus Studio Program (Berlin, 1999), Derkovits Gyula Scholarship (1999, HU), winner of the competition ’Projections on Lake‘ (Pasadena, USA, 2008), participant in the Tranzit residency program, Museums Quartier Vienna (2009). He has had solo exhibitions and film shows at the EICH Hull Gallery in England (1997), in Mainz (Gutenberg Museum Press, 1997), in Berlin (Galerie 52, 2001; Kampl Gallery, 2003) and in Budapest (Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemorary Art, 2004; Pixel Gallery, 2010). His works can be found at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Bordeaux (CAPC), the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, the Freewaves video archives in Los Angeles and Video Library of the 00130 Gallery in Helsinki.
