Born in Tokyo, lives and works also there. He is a media artist. He graduated at Tokyo University of The Arts in design Master of Fine Arts MFA (1981). He has been teaching at Keio University between 1990 and 1998. He used to be a Professor of the Department of Inter Media Art, Tokyo University of The Arts (1999/06) and has been appointed to Professor at Department of New Media, Graduate School of Film and New Media of Tokyo University of The Arts since 2006. His exhibitions were o. a. at Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM, 1998/99, 2002), at New York Center for Media Art in the USA (2001), in Graz at Kunsthaus (2005) and at Ensade Gallery in Paris (2008).
