Biography:
An artist dealing first of all with installation art. He studied at the San Francisco Art Institute's and at Pennsylvania Academy of Art in Philadelphia (1972/73) then at Bennington College in Vermont (1974/77). He took part in the Independent Study Program of Whitney Museum in New York (1978). He is represented by Postmasters Gallery in New York and currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts (New York). He works with a variety of technologies, ranging from utterly obsolete to seasonably state-of-the-art. His installation 'Timetable' was awarded the Grand Prix at the ICC Biennale '99 in Tokyo and 'Systems Maintenance' won a 1999 Prix Ars Electronica 'Award of Distinction'. 'Unexpected Obstacles' a retrospective survey of his work was exhibited at the ZKM - Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe (1998). (source: http://www.perryhoberman.com/) (2011)
