Media artist and designer. Currently is professor at the University of the Arts Berlin (1991- ) and adjunct professor at UCLA in Los Angeles (2001- ). He graduated from the academy of fine arts in Berlin, then he studied at the 'German Academy for Film and Television', Berlin. He has focussed on digital technogies and is experimenting how they can be used to express content, form, and narration. He founded ART+COM in 1988 together with other artists, designers, scientists, and technologists. His exhibitions a.o. at Centre Pompidou in Paris, Stejdilik Museum in Amsterdam, Museum for Contemporary Art in Sidney, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Kunsthalle Wien, Venice Biennial, Getty Center in Los Angeles, ZKM in Karlsruhe.
