Biography:
Born in Birmingham. Lives and works in London. Has had numerous solo shows and participated in many group shows since 1961. Is represented by Angela Flowers in London, and a selection of other solo exhibitions includes: Tom Caldwell Gallery, Belfast and Dublin (1978); Alberta College of Art, Canada (1980); Mendelson Gallery, Pittsburgh, USA (1981, 1983); Edward Weston Galleries, NY (1983); Dean Clough Art Gallery, Halifax, Nova Scotia (1988); Northern Centre for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, England (1991); Vanishing Points, City Art Galleries, Manchester, England (1994); Belloc Lowndes Fine Art, Chicago (1995); Deutsche Museum, Munich, and Lexus Centre, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (both 1997); Perspectivity, Flowers West, Santa Monica, California, and Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, Scotland (both 1998).
Hughes’ works are in many important collections, in the UK and abroad. A selection includes: the Arts Council of Great Britain, Museum of Modern Art, Glasgow; Tate Gallery, London; etc. Patrick Hughes is also the author of a number of scientific/theoretical books:
