Biography:
Lives in Boston, he is an architect and an Associate Professor of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He received the BFA and BArch from Rhode Island School of Design and the MArch from Harvard GSD. His practice has included houses and interiors in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Texas as well as numerous speculative projects and international competitions. Cohen is author of 'Contested Symmetries and Other Predicaments in Architecture' (Princeton Architectural Press), 'On the Terminal Line' (Architectural Association of London), 'Permutations of Descriptive Geometry' and co-editor of 'The Box' (with Eric Owen Moss). His work has been featured in AAFiles (London), AD (London), Arch+ (Berlin), A&U (Tokyo), Assemblage (US), Domus (Milan), GA (Tokyo), Harvard Architectural Review (US), The New York Times, Space (Seoul) and numerous other publications and anthologies including '10 x 10' (Phaidon, London). He is the recipient of two Progressive Architecture Awards (1998, 2000) and was winner of the 1992 Young Architects Competition at the Architectural League of New York and the Herta and Paul Amir Competition (2004) to design a new building for the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Exhibitions include 'The Un-Private House' at The Museum of Modern Art (New York, 1999), 'Home' (Glasgow, International Exhibition of Architecture, 1999), the Venice Biennale International Exhibition of Architecture (1985, 1996) and numerous group shows and one person exhibitions around the US. He has lectured extensively, presenting his work in the US and in Austria, England and Italy. He has taught at Princeton University, Ohio State University and at RISD in Rome. (2011)
