Like parts of a visual diary, which through the free association of images and snippets of text "force" a kind of personal interpretation of the world that is a monologue, rather than a dialogue. It is not the explanation of existence at all costs, but rather his own - and through him the viewer's - relation to the world that the stereotypical, archetypal images question. The video entitled Forging the Self is one such work. In it we can follow the tumbling of a small red ball in a whirling river in Rome with the aid of a black circle, as if watching someone struggle in the maelstrom through the telescopic sight of a firearm. Here too the circle gestures towards existential problems, but no solution is offered, the desperate situation is not resolved. (Barbara Nagy)
