Description:
I have decided to speak about the context of art. Context in the sense of environment, and environment in the sense of that which surrounds art in society today. The consequences to be drawn thereof for art depends on our decision to regard art as something independent from its context, or not. The answer is up to you. I confine myself to six concepts which, in the context of art, are about to change. It is hereby not a question of a wholistic, autonomous vision of future, but rather present, changes. I shall also leave it up to you to decide whether these changes take place within art, or derive thereof. I should like to point out that I am not alarmed by the general preference for Budweiser Light, meanwhile (or Heidegger Light, as my neighbour expressed it). The rest is a matter of taste. As for myself, I prefer meanwhile continuous versions, especially those dealing with the need for sense in a more homeopathic way. (J.G.)
