To the one who believes in little, only the light is significant in everything S/he only marries the one who is eternal. That which comes just as it always did, will thus not even depart. Which is selfless. Birth is a dark thing, from something into nothing. I respect death as bright and luminous. Mediocrity sucks away the existence between the two. There is light, one among different kinds of faces that I recognise. While it illuminates, it does not render comprehensible. A property that I cannot possess. But then it simply comes, and it creates a clear situation. I recognise its steps. Brevi manu. Night is falling. Take off my clothes. Place warm stones on my back, ones that the water has worn down to smoothness. Their temperature should be like a high fever. Release the rowboat, and put me in the water. But don’t light a candle: there will be light, that is enough. (E.B.)
