Description:
I started using holography in 1967 and very soon invented a diagram named the HOLODIAGRAM. This diagram, which was based on a set of ellipsoids, was found to be a useful tool for the making and evaluation of holograms. When lasers arrived that could produce ultrashort pulses, I developed a new method that resulted in a world record in high speed photography named LIGHT-IN-FLIGHT RECORDING BY HOLOGRAPHY, (LIF). Using this method it is possible to study in slow motion how light pulses are moving around e.g. reflected by a mirror or focused by a lens. However, it was soon found that the light pulses appeared deformed. For instance a spherical light pulse appeared deformed into one of the ellipsoids of the HOLODIAGRAM. This deformation could be explained as a relativistic effect and thus Einsteins Special Relativity Theory could also be explained using the ellipsoids of the HOLODIAGRAM. (...) (N.A.)
