Description:
The most authentic conceptual mapping of the dynamically developing high science of the turn of the millennium is denoted by the so-called transhumanist philosophies. Nanotechnology, superintelligence, man-machine symbioses – how can such typical themes be depicted in contemporary media art, and how is theory transformed into an autonomous, self-determining creation? Can so many topics belonging to the realm of science fiction (though according to prognoses, increasingly rather science-faction) be represented in a “true-to-life” manner? To what extent does the new type of approach imply departure in comparison with the cyberpunk that has by now been tamed to the sci-fi standard? (F.K.)
