Description:
The projected image consists of white blurred vertical phrases arranged in alphabetical order against a black background that moves at varying speed left or right in response to the movement of the audience tracked by a security camera in front of the projection. At the same time, the background noise – the clicking sound of the spinning of the Lotto ball familiar from television – accelerates or slackens the motion of the image. The blurred texts can be read "in focus" through a narrow slit in the center of the screen. If the audience intends to read these words and phrases, they then must move in the space to find the position that corresponds with placing the phrase of their choice in “focus”. As the camera senses people's movement, the computer uses the camera's feedback to move the image. The computer is programmed to respond to the speed of movement, (…) allowing the audience to consciously interact with the camera's sensing device and spin this wheel of information. (G.L.)
