Description:
Video as Partial-Unity. As a basic material of installation, the presence of video embodies a hole, which even in the worst case, opening towards another dimension, is able to symbolise 'otherness' and in a very spectacular form indeed. Anything that can be seen through this window opening represents 'otherness' viewed from 'here' My work is an analysis of video as a poetic means which I perform with a simultaneous representation of the borders of the material and the intellectual. The results of the investigation: I. Minus Pathos: (the pure content and its image) The medium caught by the hook of visibility: the body of the camera in the dimension of feeble materials; an X-ray snapshot of the momentarily self-reflective video. II. Plus Myth: (the pure image and its content) Immaterial idea which, communicating at the speed of time, always transubstantiates certain forms. Here its counterpart is the actual print, the image, which also depicts the peak possibility of preservation. (J.S.)
