Description:
One of the well-known requirements of perspectival representation is to place the viewpoint of the spectator outside the structure and, although there is a situational point within the structure of projection that represents the spectator her/himself, it can only be regarded as the imaginary re-projection of the subject itself. In order to create an illusion, therefore, the structure needs a fixed point outside itself that also possesses a distance, and the creation of this point is one of the aims of representation. Obviously, beyond the need of recording a view, perspective representation also determines the physical and philosophical position of the spectator’s subject in relation to the view. The perpendicular re-projection of the spectator’s point of view into the structure creates the vanishing point. (...) (Sz.K.)
