Description:
(...) The largely intuitive Brothers Quay collaborated in a project called Loplop /re/presents: the im/pulse to see , an exhibition project, in which the author of this text elaborated the ideas of Rosalind Krauss into a visual essay. For this exhibition that drew largely from the collection of the Rotterdam Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, but also included pre-cinema instruments, as well as new media applications, the Brothers Quay created their first sculptural piece, specifically designed for a museum space. Conceived as a kind of prelude to the show, this homage resulted in an imaginary accomodation for Loplop, the birdlike alterego of Max Ernst, most often appearing in his collages. (...)
