Description:
If we examine only its strictly legible thematic elements, Ost-Giebel may well be considered a DIALOGUE PIECE. Beyond the dialogue between the two chairs facing each other, other, more hidden dialogues also play out, like those that exist between the small hidden chairs and the big ones. Or the dialogue between the rafters and the two neon tubes. But the whole construction is also built on two major axes in dialogue with each other: vertically moving away from the aluminium chairs, one of the major axes - which we could term the "dramatic" or "narrative" axis - rises as high as the acroterion. At the two end-points, two ragged and torn forms (plaster and aluminium) reply. Perpendicular to this, the axis of the three crates marches horizontally alongside the "pure", non-narrative and non-ironic plastic world of the crates on the side. But the two side crates are also in dialogue with each other, (...). (Gy.J.)
