Description:
The works Perspective I and Perspective II are two diptichons that belong together. In the first image neither the horizon nor any other motif indicate spatial depth. The motifs are integrated into a “space” that is hard to define and represent vision as well as tactile perception connected to it by means of a construction of the human eye and an anatomical hand. Human beings – who see and feel – are not present themselves. Rather, it is their images that are present. This manifests what the spectator does when looking at an image. Thus, the spectator is confronted with his own activity through the image. The other piece, Perspective II is built around the concept of the first. The surface of it is cut into two halves by a horizontal line. On this line a point of intersection was defined where straight lines being at equal distance from each other on the horizon meet. From this new motif the image gained a spatial depth. (...) (G.Z.)
