Description:
I am interested in the structure of the image and the reflection of vision, or the connections between these. I interpret the panel picture as one of the elements of space, as a predefined plane. I consider perspective as a part of projective geometry, which offers an infinite range of the basic elements of geometry. The historical formation of the image is open for me to mediate. With the perspective projected onto the plane, an image construction comes into being which is reconstructed by the nature of the eye, but this construction, in a strange manner, destroys its own vehicle by which it has come into being – the plane. I redefine the “concealed” image plane by way of perspective. I “correct” the perspectival construction in a geometrical sense: I continue beyond the horizon, from which two spaces proceed – the spatial formation before and behind the horizon line. The double-image (...) one image is simultaneously the empty space of the other, the form of its absence. (M.J.)
