Biography:
Born in Vienna. Lives and works in Graz. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the University of Vienna and earned his degree in Graphics and Painting (1964). He was an assistant at the Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna from 1968. He is a co-founder of Poolerie, a media-gallery for photography-film-and-video and a co-editor of the art magazine Pfirsich (1973). He was head of the experimental sector of AVZ-audio-visual-centre in Graz (1978), one year later he co-founded the first regional artist-run society, Bvoest. He was a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) fellowship holder in Berlin (1983/84) and received the research grant to Washington Project for the Arts (WPA). He was giving special lectures at the Technical University in Vienna under the title, Aesthetics of scientific and technological processes(1988/91) then he was professor of Electronic Media Art at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1995/96). He had exhibitions a. o. at Kunsthaus Zürich (Switzerland) and at the Museum of Modern Art (Los Angeles) and at the Shanghai Pudong Expo (China). (2011)
