Biography:
Born in Büren an der Aare. Lives and works in Bern. Originally a painter and graphic designer, his artistic activity also includes making sculptures as well as object and installation art. In his works the relativity of the senses and the contradiction between illusion and (supposed) reality fooled by human vision are particularly relevant. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in numerous locations worldwide, and in 1988 he represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennial. His latest solo exhibitions a.o.: ’The Expanded Eye’ (Kunsthaus Zürich, 2006), ’NO LEFTOVERS’ (Kunsthalle Bern, 2008). His works are included in numerous collections in Europe, as well as the United States (Kunstmuseum, Bern; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Tate Gallery, London; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Musée national d’art moderne, Paris).
