Biography:
Following his early studies in fine and applied arts, Megyik emigrated to Vienna, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. He later received his diploma in Painting, Mural Painting and Stained Glass from the Academy of Applied Arts in 1961. Between 1963?1969 Megyik researches bifocal pictorial geometry. Beginning in 1969 he also works as a designer. Commencing in the early seventies, he focuses on projective geometry and its broader application in mediaeval architectural floorplans. His earlier metal constructions are succeeded by compositions of wood. In 1972 Megyik writes in collaboration with Alpár Bujdosó an essay entitled The Construction of Nothing, which they then read at the first conference of the Paris Atelier Hongrois (Magyar Műhely) at Marly-le-Roi. From 1972-77 Megyik is an organiser and supporter of the Magyar M?hely conferences. In 1985 he wins the Congress Center competition in Vienna, and also receives the Kassák award of the Magyar Műhely. He receives the Munkácsy Prize in1997. Receives a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy in Rome in 1999.
