Biography:
Born in Budapest. He is a music historian; graduated in 1974 from the musicology department of the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy. Between 1974 and 1990 worked as a researcher in the Bartók Archive at the Hungarian Academy of Science's Musicology Institute. Since 1979 he has taught at the Music Academy, at first in the musicology department, and more recently in the composition department as well. He was guest lecturer at a music symposium accompanying the Avignon Festival and has given several lectures in France, Germany and the United States; in the summers he is a lecturer and co-organizer of the Bartók Seminar in Szombathely. Since 1973 he has regularly collaborated in music performances and was one of the founding members of the New Music Studio. He published several musicology studies and scientific scores, primarily concerning twentieth century music. Under commission to the John Cage Estate he prepared an inventory of John Cage's work after his death. He has participated as performing artist and music director in several recordings. (2011)
