Born in Canada. He is an architect and media researcher and currently is artistic director of Transmediale, Berlin's festival for art and digital culture. He spent a decade upon German unification designing and establishing media art and culture related programs at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. His Studio Electronic Media Interpretation hosted numerous international projects, symposia and exhibitions. He founded several media culture oriented exchange and network programs including Archi-Tonomy, EMARE, ECX and the Bauhauskolleg.
